You Know There’s Trouble

~You know there’s trouble when the most motivated person I know says they are “not feeling it”. Numbness has set in.

~You know there’s trouble when we can’t go into the vet with our kitty for his check up. Sheldon was pissed.

~You know there’s trouble when they are requiring us to walk certain directions in aisles at the grocery store. I‘m a rebel. I walk what direction I want. No one has given me a “grocery ticket” yet.

~You know there’s trouble when See’s Candies closes. What did they do with all that candy?

~You know there's trouble when Disneyland closes. By far the coolest house to “shelter in place” would be Mickey Mouses house.

~You know there's trouble when the NBA cancels their season. They should have done that anyway after Kobe died.

~You know there's trouble when I have to buy napkins in case we run out of toilet paper. Scratchy.

~You know there's trouble when you read or listen to the reports of the victims.

There is simply nothing humorous about that.

But good can come out of trouble.

~You know it's good when your family is together like they haven't been in years.

~You know it's good when stores are out of street chalk and bubbles. Families are playing together.

~You know it's good when it's difficult to maintain the 6 feet distance on trials because they are packed with people exercising.

~You know it's good when you see people finding different ways to be creative.

~You know it's good when your family is all on a Zoom video call. Even if they all live in different states.

~You know it's good when a high school senior says to you,

“It's not how I thought the end of this year was going to look like, but it's all good!

I know I have been successful and am going to celebrate that with my family.

That's good enough.”

My very wise mama used to say, "Sometimes you have to take the good with the bad." This is one of those moments in time.

The year 2020 is not how any of us thought it was going to look. Especially those that have suffered greatly from this pandemic.

But we will heal.

We will rise.

And as long as we keep our focus on growing, learning and loving our way through this, we will come out stronger on the other side.

"A rising tide lifts all boats"

~You know there is trouble when we feel our boat rock.

~You know it's good when we reach out and help one another rise.

Keep rising my friends.

Much Love,
